About me
Marzena Ellert personal statement I am creative and enthusiastic person with a diverse range of six years experience being a nanny. Flexible attitude, versatile, responsible and able to work under pressure to the highest standards. Outgoing with strong and effective communication skills. Able to work in partnership with families. Problem solver, enjoying working with children. Not clock watcher. I find really rewarding working with children. A child’s “smile” is for me much more rewarding than a good salary. Observing how they grow and helping them solving even the small problems which for them are sometimes massive is very important for me. I always try to look at life through children's eyes. I think most adults have already forgotten how it is being a child. Many adults lost this life curiosity and happiness which children still have. I like working with children because their emotions are always true, they never lie, can not pretend to be happy. If they are happy so they are, if they are sad so they are. I appreciate that honesty. During my six years career as a nanny I have always tried to have a good relation with both parents and children. I always listen carefully what parents want me to do and what they want to achieve. Usually at the end of the week I try to have a chat with parents about are their plans for the following week so I can plan. Planning help me a lot in working with children. If there are any disciplinary problems, I always consult them with the parents. I provide effective intervention between children when disagreements arise. I always try to keep children busy. Therefore, we are doing lots of activities during a free time f. ex: cooking together, doing arts and crafts or going to the playground. We never bored. During dinners we often talk about what had happened at school and how was the day. This gives children opportunity to express their feelings, share the information but also develop communication skills I encourage them to become self - sufficient. In my opinion there is no harm in putting a dirty plate into a dishwasher or dirty socks into washing basket. Being self- sufficient is a stepping stone to independence. In my opinion these days a lot of people would like to employ well educated nanny with lots of certificates. All that is important, I agree. However, people forget that a good nanny needs to have a common sense and life skills after all. I have both. I also have a sense of humour and I know how to take a joke. Children need it. I am proud of being nanny and helping families.
